Dark Troubles – Fight — Original Action Music Composition — EWQLSO, Stormdrum 2

This is my latest track, based on my previous Dark Troubles music (Dark Troubles is a self-written movie script). The action stuff starts at around 40 seconds into the video. I composed the piece using Cubase Studio 5, EWQLSO Silver (PLAY Edition), and Stormdrum 2. All the orchestral instruments are from EWQLSO, and the percussion is from Stormdrum 2.

  1. Great piece of music!!
Can I ask you which patches from stormdrum you used? I think you did a great job with the drums…and the rest of course!
    GREAT!

  2. i really like this. the sound is good, but i really like the song itself. the composition is really well done. i can tell you were influenced by Hans Zimmer(dark knight soundtrack), but you never copied him. this is very well done

  3. @TriJourneyStudios I don’t like the QLegato patches either. You make really good use of the articulations you have. Good job!

  4. @dariunas Ah, nice :) Thank you for sharing that tip. Like most things, I think I’m not putting in the time to tweak enough… Will post my efforts up once I have something worthy! Thanks again

  5. @dariunas (continued from last comment) to do is to switch the patch multiple times in one section, and get what sounds best for each note. It can be time consuming, but the end result can sound pretty good.

  6. @dariunas I have different patches I go to for different purposes. I always use the master key-switch patch as well to be able to switch any time.
I mostly use the Butter Legato patch for general purpose legato, but I also use the Sus Vib for some purposes. I find it sounds best when only used at low velocities. At higher velocities, it has too much of an unnatural attack. Also, stay away from the QLeg patches, because they pretty much never sound good.
Sometimes the best thing to (continued)

  7. Hey what do you think of the legato violins patch on Silver? You seem to really know your way around this. I find it tough to get a good sound from violins. Actually preferring Reason’s orkester violins at the moment :

    Is it just me?

  8. dude i love this track. btw i got some nks, do you know how I can use it in Cubase? thanks for your advise!

  9. nice work man!

  10. hey can i use music for something?

  11. Nice job! Thanks for sharing!

  12. Love this track man!!!!!! i think the flute part is a bit to loud and also could do with a powerful choir as well but this is really good work i could see the in game like COD6 :) Check out some of my stuff if you get a chance :)

  13. Awesome work! love the storm drums! Orchestra is very coool!

    *5

    keep it up!

  14. i liked the string melody shit was hot

  15. really nice work! really enjoyed the pizz section.. everything flows really well… awesome job 5/5

  16. I feel that there is a lack of pressure. I think you used too much of the reverb. Did you use any EQ or compression? The composition is very nice though.

  17. Really cool ideas in this one. And of course SD2 rocks ;) It’s cool how unexpected the track changes its turns and directions. That’s what keeps it interesting I think. Nice work :)

  18. I used East West Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra Silver, and Stormdrum 2.

  19. Dude this is great. I need to know any VST’s you used! this sounds awesome!

  20. loved it!!! great work once again!!!
