Ableton Live chopping samples manually into Drum Racks quickly


soundsandgear.com showing how to manually chop samples into drum racks quickly in Ableton Live. This is in response to my other video showing how to automatically chop by using “slice to midi” This method let’s you chop the pieces you want instead of chopping the whole sample, drag them to a drum rack, and sequence your chops

  9. u have everything you need. I used “simpler” it comes without the suite.

  10. thanks helpfull video.I just installed ableton8 earlier.havent done this yet ,so you werent using the ’sampler’that comes with ’suite?I dont have the sampler because I just got 8 with out suite.Can I do this too with just ableton8?

  11. I never tried that I usually save it as a kit. I’ll have to look into that.

  12. how do you save each hit you take from a sample as a wav or something you can use in the future without having to go through the chopping process again? cheers

  16. here is another DOPE trick for you from alwayzambitious on im. guys u can select multiple chops and drag them all to the drum rack in one shot…

  19. and Im gonna say more…thanks for showing the visual way to do it and pushing that…this is how I do mines…I dont even dump em to a midi instrument most of the time…I match the tempo then chop, drag n drop in the session view unless im unsure of my arrangement…people dont understand that live has a new and easier way to chop n slice…well let me say MANY easy ways to chop and slice…I started with live 4…there was no slice to midi…lol…anyway im rambling peace bro

  23. yeah…you can set it to whatever you want, the number represents the groups…so you can have various choke groups
