Tutorial – creating Percussion grooves with samples pt.2

This is the second part of a little tutorial about creating and processing percussion grooves with samples. For this example I used Cubase 5, Kontakt 3 and as for the samples, the Dhol from “Tonehammer”. Hope you enjoy!

  1. Hey thesecession and thx!
Well, if the track is huge and there is lots of stuff going on, I simply don’t care too much. If the track is smaller in size of instruments I try to just find a similar reverb and EQ it a bit,

BTW: Did you try to move the ModWheel on the Dhol programs? You can reduce or raise the amount of reverb/tails.

  2. Hey Alex, Love this tutorial! I was just wondering how you mesh together sounds that have different recorded reverbs. For example Im trying to use some tonehammer libraries along with EWQL RA. Since most of the sounds in RA are recorded dry, Im having a hard time mixing them with something like the Dhol which has an epic recorded reverb. Do you have any tips for this problem?

  3. @numb312 hey, as pointed out in the description of this video: the Dhol from Tonehammer

  4. what sample pack you used in this tutorial?

  5. Ronng84, trying using the asio4all sound driver, it will clear up almost all of the latency, depending on your machine. I have no delay really, maybe 20ms i don’t really notice it.

  6. Depends on my latency settings, yes … usually with not much instruments going on I can set it as low as to have 3-4 ms, which I barely notice anymore.

  7. sounds great as always dude ! By the way, do you face any delay at the software end when hitting those keys??? I’ve always encountered that problem.

  8. hey, I think you won’t find anything free which is sampled with that great detail and variety in sounds than the Tonehammer stuff. Besides that their stuff is really affortable …

  9. hey man where can i get free samples and dhol samples like that ? PLEASE REPLY back assap !!
