MPC 1000 Soft Synth Nanokey FM8 test
Always hearing people talk about how much of a pain it is to use a software synthesizer with the MPC, so i thought i’d give it a try, In this video I’m using A Korg Nanokey to control FM8 VST plug-in, with no special sound card, just the laptop headphone jack out directly into the MPC 1000 record jack. I managed to get the delay down to a point were i didn’t really notice it, and over all i was quit happy with the sounds i managed to pull out of this plug in.

Your probably right, my old roland would probably have been a better unit to demo.
If you like the dx7 sound the dx200 is another great fm synth.
the dx7 is probably one of the worst synths to make an argument agains soft synths with as it’s a very digital sounding synth. most of the gripes for VST come from people arguing that true analog synths sound more fat blah blah blah. though that is slowly being shut down with synths like d-cam synth squad etc. modeling actual circuits. good video though.
The nano Keyboard was under $50 and i think right now you can get them used for $30.
how much this run u
Stand alone.
Did you use the vst in standalone mode? Or did you have to pull the vst up in a host program? (like FL Studio or Cubase or somthing like that.)

When yer a musician that makes money you know that’s what a sound engineer is for. Leave the creation to the artist and the bullshit to the nerds. Keep doin your thang!
This is really interesting! Also, it’s refreshing to see the MPC being used to play something other than hip-hop.
